Why a Control System?

Hey everyone, I'm Chuck Mitchell CEO here at Tech arts and today we're just going to briefly talk about Control Systems, what a control system is and how it helps. And I'm Jason Vandergriff the director of technology.

So an integrated control system is a way for us to combine many devices of points of control into a single interface or everal smaller interfaces that perhaps do many things. So for audio a lot of times we need to say turn on a sound system uh we need to control microphones w need to monitor battery status of certain things uh in a boardroom we might be doing all sorts of different microphone control whether people are talking or muted so we're going to put that all into a single interface uh in a classroom it might just have a button panel that turns things on and off and then controls volume video we're often dealing with uh simple things like turning on and off projectors screens controlling uh motorized uh screens we're also routing video within a venue and all over a venue and outside of a venue uh we have to be able to

Simply oute this video to different places lighting we're generally going to have simple control with something like house lights where there's a button on the wall that turns the lights on we also might want to snapshot a much more advanced look we can do that in networking uh we can just capture what's uh currently on the network and then play it back at a later time without the need for the the operator something like a small classroom the the hardware is typically pretty inexpensive we might talk of simple button panel and they can range between $800 and $1,000 for a panel certainly when getting up into the more advanced controllers uh we're looking at many thousands of dollars um typically a package for a good siiz venue can be between $5 and $110,000 with multiple points of control but encapsulate the entire venue so all of our designs are uh Backbone in a network of some type so anything we can keep in a network control environment uh I believe is going to maximize our usage in the long term

I don't know what the next technology will be or the protocol but I can guarantee it'll be on a network switch of some time overall though the benefit is that room gets a lot more use for instance at a church you might have a a funeral or a wedding that only needs mics or playback of a video so that's a pretty huge win when you can do that without getting a video audio and even a lighting guy so that's yeah $10,000 doesn't start to seem like so much money when you're saving maybe 5 to ,000 every time you're using the system versus having somebody coming in this can get a lot out of the space that's a pretty cool thing so that wraps up Control Systems I just wanted to give you a snapshot of what that is and how it can help if you have more questions you know how to reach us on the website or give us a call .
